One of our most popular activities every year is the annual yurt camping trip in the backcountry of the Uinta Mountains. Check out this video of the 2011 trip:
Every year Winter at Westminster students are invited to create a video chronicling their experience in the program and compete for fabulous prizes. The students, who are split into teams of 2 to 4, are loaned video cameras to document their activities and answer the question “How do you Winter at Westminster?” on video.
Each team is partnered with a video apprentice from Spy Hop Productions who mentors them through the post-production process, including digital video editing and music integration. The finished videos are screened at the end of the semester at the awards ceremony and party. This year Zack Bryant and Justin Aaron of Team One and a Half Men swept the awards – they took home every prize! Check out their video:
The 2010-2011 season was an epic year in Utah. Resorts up and down the Wasatch Mountains experienced record snowfall and Snowbird was no exception, with 783 inches – that’s 100 inches more than they’ve ever had before! All that snow meant Snowbird’s slopes were open on the 4th of July for only the third time in their history. People were skiing and boarding in shorts, t-shirts, and bathing suits (and costumes), while also enjoying Snowbird’s great summer activities, like the bungy trampoline and the alpine slide.
The 4th was the closing day of Snowbird’s longest ski season – 202 days.
